In the distant past, Tyree men were warriors fighting to protect their families, and building fortresses as places of security. They owned and lived in castles, including Drumkilbo and Dunnideer in the Scottish highlands. These men fought for the freedom of self-government, and to be able to worship as they chose. Their castles were burned and their property seized, as they fled to a new world, bringing with them the hope of and the firm belief in personal freedom.

This is Tyree history. The Darien castle plan is your window into the past.



Entering through the traditional portcullis, visitors are welcomed by a large stone motorcourt, and entry hall. The tower houses a billiard room and irish pub and connects to the main house through a 2 story library. The Darien plan contains 6 functioning wood-burning fireplaces, and a full brick pizza oven. The first floor of the main house has a large foyer, dining, living and chef's kitchen. The gothic arched back porch is perfect for outdoor living and entertaining.

The second floor is divided into 5 large bedroom suites. The interior of the house is finished with stone floors, beveled glass french doors and boxed beam ceilings.

 This plan is designed with a concrete slab. The exterior walls are 12" ICF construction. First and second floor systems are pre-engineered wood trusses. The 12:12 roof is slate, a plywood deck, and pre-engineered wood trusses. The Darien is a classic Scottish Highland castle finished in stone, wrought iron detailing, heavy plank doors.
